{The Victorian Secret} Breakfast Time Out

And so, another weekend has flown by and we are back to another new week (and the end of another month!)

This weekend I spent a lot of time doing nothing – I certainly try not to do anything most weekends but honestly I needed to “time-out” this weekend as my March calendar is pretty full (I’m really excited to share pics of a bachelorette and wedding I am attending this year).

This weekend I spent a fair amount of time with the family. We went out for breakfast this past Saturday at the lovely “The VictorianSecret” which never fails to disappoint. As always we received excellent service and delicious food!

How was your weekend?

{Throw back Thursday} A combined anniversary weekend

Throwing back to November 2015 where my husband and i went away for the weekend with friends to celebrate our anniversaries. Our friends got married exactly on the same day as my husband and i did exactly a year later - how could we not celebrate together?

Our weekend was a quiet and VERY cold one (especially for November'15). We spent hours catching up around a fire with champagne and learning to fly-fish (well, technically he was trying to teach me).

{Valentines} Weekend in a nutshell ♥

A friend of ours lives and works on a game lodge in Limpopo and we have been dying to pack up our beagles and pop in for a weekend. So when he invited us (beagles included) to join him for valentines day with his lovely lady. We really couldn't say no, and honestly we didn't want to.

You see our lives pretty much revolve around what can we do next,  what will be the most affordable and can we take the beagles (anyone who has a beagle will know just how busy they really are... Don't let those cute faces fool you).

In all seriousness though, Valentines Day has not been high on our priority list for 2016 There are no bah humbug feelings about Valentines day here. We love love. But we also decided to spend more time together as our resolution for 2016 and we have been doing just that. So every weekend including Valentines day and has been about being with each other.

The biggest highlight of the weekend wasn't just the peace and quiet or the lazing around in the pool watching my beagles play with our friends beagles it was the Sun downers. I love mountainous terrains. I am crazy about sunsets and there is no one I would want to share these two things with than my husband

Look at this view! This weekend was total bliss!

We had to have the creamy liqueur (Amarula) at Sundown. How could we not when the area is covered in Marula trees.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

{Appreciation Tuesday} A walk in the park!

Amazing what a bit of ex cerise can do for the mind!

My husband and I woke up early this morning so we could walk our over active beagles (ADHD could be a better word to describe them). We have finally had rain here in Joburg (which we cannot complain about) but it always seems to rain when we want to take the dogs to the park.

It is always rewarding walking them with a view like this, but watching the sunrise with this view almost settles the mind before the start of a new day.

Happy Tuesday everyone!

{Dullstroom} Weekend out of the hustle and bustle

2016 started out with a bang and we (hubby and i) have since been busy from the time the clock clicked over from 2015 to 2016. One of our biggest resolutions for this year is to make more time for each other. This resolution has not been too difficult for us and it probably means we will be taking as many weekends as we can to dedicate more time to each other.

Last weekend we took some time out to get out, get some fresh air by popping in in Dullstroom.  This was a fairly impromptu decision for us but a much needed break away from the hustle and bustle in Joburg.

We had such a wonderful time without cellphone reception. We spent our weekend appreciating the beautiful mountains, We were able to spot a few shooting stars in the evenings, took a bush bath  and we went for a long hike up the mountain one morning.

We booked accommodation at a little four star lodge a little out of the way of the town of Dullstroom (Forest Creek Lodge). We chose to go the self-catering route (this time around was a matter of preference) but you can always choose to book a suite with catering included.

We stayed in the beach house and were rewarded with the magnificent view of the mountains surrounding us (shown above)

All in all thiis weekend away was just not long enough!
